Bike Fitting
At Home

Home Fit is an application developed for Canyon Bicycles that helps users find the perfect bike frame size from the comfort of home. Using a smartphone camera, it scans the body in real time, measures key joints, and generates a personalized 3D avatar. This ensures an accurate fit while creating an engaging and seamless pre-purchase experience.

02 Challenges

Creating an enjoyable and
accurate pretail experience.

01

How is it possible to accurately do bike fitting at home?

02

Is there a simple and fast way to find the perfect bike?

03

How to extend the process to make it more fun?

Choosing the right frame size is crucial for an enjoyable riding experience.

02-01

Challenges with the direct-to-consumer model

By selling directly to riders, Canyon Bicycles cuts out the middleman and can offer high-end bikes at better prices. The flip side is that customers don’t get to test ride before buying because of the bikes not being available at retailers, so getting the right size and fit becomes very important.

02-02

Step 1 - Body height refence

In order to create an accurate measurement process, the body height will be used as a parameter to further determine the length of certain body joints.

02-03

Step 2 - Capturing

To ensure accurate measurements, users should stand in a T-pose and wear tight-fitting clothing. The app captures the following body joints in real time:

BOTH INNER LEG LENGTHS
BOTH ARM LENGHTS

02-04

Step 3 - Real-time 3D scanning

Through the process, a real time 3D avatar is generated with the important body joints being measured. The data is saved by the application to determine the right bike size.

Finding the suitable bike through a quick survey.

02-05

Step 4 - Finding the right bike model (survey)

The Quick Check is a short survey in which new customers answer three questions about their budget, the intended occasion, and the terrain for the new bike.

02-06

Step 4 - Finding the right bike model (selection)

When users know the bike model they’re looking for, they can easily browse Canyon’s catalog themselves.

02-07

Right bike size

After the measurement process, the data is saved and the correct size is already calculated once the desired bike is selected.

03

How to extend the process to make it more fun?

Customization and accurate projection of the avatar on the perfect bike.

02-08

Step 5 - Customization

The Canyon wardrobe provides access to gear like jerseys and bib shorts, which can be visualized directly on the 3D avatar generated in the measurement process.

02-09

Step 6 - Bike projection

The final and the most rewarding step is that the user can select their chosen bike, with the right frame size tailored to their measurement data, and see how they would look like on their dream bike.

Thank you for viewing.
